Kitchen and Dining

Sticking with our house’s interior design industrial theme we wanted to create a kitchen and dining space that was simple yet functional.

Originally we were thinking of having black as our cabinet colour but we moved away from this to keep the space feeling open and bright. We chose to use black as features throughout- fridge, leather handles, marble sink, mixer and pendant lights to tie in with our black window frames and other black features throughout the house.

We also continued our timber theme in the space by designing and making our attached dining table, bulk head and back benchtop. These were all made from solid blackbutt.

Our splashback was our “splash” of colour for the area. We chose to use a wallpaper with a clear glass over the top. We found it quiet difficult to find a glazier that would fit the glass for us as many were concerned with how it was going to function. A year on and many stirfry cookups later and we couldn’t be happier with its performance.

We used a stone benchtop for our island bench. We chose a lighter grey to blend with the polished concrete floors. We love the look of a waterfall edge on kitchens but in the case we felt going a thicker top and having a break between the concrete and the stone was the better look.
