Bianco Caloundra Italian Restaurant Interior Design is a project created through the collaboration of Studio Shibui and H and G Designs, now unified as NOD Studio, the dedicated commercial design arm of the combined practice. This project reflects the new studio’s philosophy: thoughtful, contemporary spaces that merge cultural references with a sense of place.
Project Overview
Bianco Caloundra is a modern coastal Italian restaurant and wine bar crafted from the ground up. The vision was to design a venue that celebrates Italian dining culture while embracing the relaxed sophistication of Caloundra’s coastal setting. The resulting interior design blends contemporary forms, tactile materials, and Mediterranean inspired details, creating an experience that feels both fresh and timeless.
Design Approach
The interior design for Bianco Caloundra was guided by a balance of Italian heritage and coastal modernity. The restaurant and wine bar were envisioned as distinct yet connected zones, each with its own ambience but sharing a cohesive design language.
Key considerations included:

Italian references: terracotta, warm timbers, artisanal textures, and subtle nods to classic trattoria charm.

Modern coastal identity: natural stone, brushed metals, and sandy colours to reflect Caloundra’s seaside atmosphere.

The dedicated wine bar provides a sophisticated extension of the dining space, encouraging all-day use and a layered hospitality offering.
